The Garden Story at our Williams site begins in 2017. When we moved into a new school built for us at 13 Monarch Way. Everything was perfect. Except we needed a therapeutic garden for our students. Because it would help them to learn. And to become good stewards of our great, sweet world.

But the REAL garden story at the Monarch School of New England begins a long time before 2017 ... perhaps in the year 1998. When the beginnings of the school's horticultural therapy program first began to bloom.

Horticultural Therapy engages a person in gardening and plant based activities to achieve specific therapeutic goals. For our students, it's a tool to better help them learn in the classroom. They get their hands dirty in the garden and through sensory experiences - touch, smell, sight - they come to understand the circle of life. From seeds to flowers to food.
